Ist jetzt auch nicht sooo wichtig....jetzt kommt erst einmal die Neuauflage von Division Bell.
Weiß da jemand Neuigkeiten?
Eigenartiger Weise finde ich da kaum was im Netz.
Das was ich gefunden habe ist eine Meldung von Anfang März, da heißt es, dass die Doppel Vinyl zwischen ende März und Mitte April raus kommt. Nur so nah am Termin müsste es doch mittlerweile einen genau Zeitpunkt geben, oder? Kommt die vielleicht morgen raus?
Devision Bell ist die einzige Pink Floyd Platte, die mir als Original fehlt. Die MUSS ich haben.

Hello once more, Andy. I've got another question, back to the times of the Immersion sets: what happened with Wembley 74 Echoes? Did you also restored its audio? It's a pity it wasn't included in any of the boxsets. Thanks!
Indeed, echoes was the encore in that show. There was going to be a Meddle box set, or something similar, but the record company didn't want to go with it. Might happen at a later date. I haven't heard it. Well strictly I have, I was at that show as a paying member of the audience oddly enough!

One other query which you may or may not be able to shed light on, and that is, the possibility anytime soon of a 5.1 disc of The Wall. James did say a few years ago that it'd definitely happen, but since then nothing more has been said about it, as far as I know... Any ideas?
No none I'm afraid. One issue with that album is that the tapes are in terrible shape. Ampex (the tape manufacturer) had to change their formulation in the late 70s as they used whale oil (!!) as part of the glue that stuck the magnetic oxide to the backing. The new glue has proved to be very unstable and leeches through. "cooking" the tapes dries them out and makes them playable briefly, but only briefly. James may have already made a transfer, I don't know. I know he's been busy on another project, which is finishing up now. Don't know what is next for him.

Verstehe ich das richtig? Die Original-Tapes von "The Wall" sind dermaßen im Arsch, dass es deswegen keine 5.1 Version geben kann?

Dann wundert es mich, wie man das Album überhaupt Remastern konnte und folglich warum man keine entsprechenden Backups (2011) gezogen hat. Die digital Ära gibt es ja nicht erst seit gestern. Ich bin mir sicher, dass da noch ein Multitrack-Backup auf Festplatte schlummert.
Desweiteren gibt es genug Techniken zur Restauration. Dann einwenig mit Protools etc. aufgefrischt..., na ja wer weiß was da hinter steckt. Schon verwunderlich, das Bands wie Genesis es geschafft haben, quasi ihren ganzen Back-Katalog in SACD 5.1 neu aufzustellen.
Dumm dass die man mit der Rettung der Wale so spät begonnen hat
