Geheimvolles KATE BUSH-Demo mit Dave Gilmour und die Unicorn?      [5283]
Sorry if I write in English, but this story is too complicated for me to write it in German. Few days ago a guy from Reading sold a mysterious Acetate (see  click here).
you can listen to the acetate  now on youtube:  click here.
Many Kate's fans think  it's not Kate Bush just because Del Palmer (ex partner, sound engineer) said it is not her. But if you listen to it, it is clearly Kate Bush, without any doubt. You need to listen to it carefully and not just one time.
A Kate Bush fan put yesterday this post on the Kate Bush Forum:
"This was something interesting found on a site about David Gilmour and other musicians, a detailed account of his career, including his time with Unicorn. (From a different PF site... "He played pedal steel guitar and produced two albums for a British band called 'Unicorn' in the mid 70's. In 1977, David financed Kate Bush's demo tape that led to her signing with EMI and a hit single, 'Wuthering Heights.'
DG: She was introduced to me by a friend, who said "I've got this young 14 year-old girl, who's incredibly talented," he said "I think I should - you know, you should do something for her." And I listened to her and I agreed, so I did." )

This is the section that caught my eye...

~~They started in '63 (a year in wich a few nice people are born...) they had different names one was The Pink Bears. And on a certain moment they are the back up band from Billy J. Kramer. In '71 their first elpee came out; Uphill all the Way. Excellent Country Rock with good harmonies.

When a close friend, Ricky Hopper, married they met David Gilmour ('73) and they decided to jam afterwards, David suggested Heart of Gold/ Niel Young.
David &...
Dave told how he really liked Country Rock which came as a considerable surprise as Pink Floyd seemed a million miles away from that kind of music. A week later Dave phoned Pat to say that he had just completed a studio installed at his country retreat and, as a try out, he could offer a free day there to demo some songs. The band immediately accepted.
Things started to happen from then on. Dave said he was prepared to put up the money to record an album of Unicorn songs and that his manager, Steve O'Rourke, would sell it. Unicorn signed with Steve's EMKA organisation and Ricky Hopper who had introduced them to Dave became the day to day and tour manager. Ricky was later to discover Kate Bush, then called Kathy Bush. Pete and Pat from Unicorn played on her first demo recordings at Dave's studio.

Two members;
Peter Perryer- drums,
Pat Martin- bass (a distant relation of Eric Clapton).
got invited to make a few demo's with Kate Bush, Gilmours new protege. The other members were;
Ken Baker- vocals, guitar, keys,
Kevin Smith- guitar (he played shortly with Camel).~~"

What do you think about? Is there any expert here who can tell me if this acetate is a song recorded with Dave Gilmour and the Unicorn?
PS: You can replay in German since I can write and read it.

Funny story, thus: Most of the persons or groups seem not to having existed. Kate Bushs connection to David ist proofed - the rest may be an urban legend.

Do you have any links?

The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think. Oh by the way, which one's Pink?

So, the Bass Pat Martin from the Unicorn has answered and the mystery gets even more mysterious since:

"All I can tell you is it definitely ain't Kate Bush and it definitely ain't me Pete and David Gilmour playing on it. Whoever it is singing, she's much older than Kate was then, the phrasing is not like Kate and the song isn't good enough to have been written by her or anything like the other songs she was writing at the time and I heard them all. Sorry if this disappoints anyone. This is a hoax.
Pat."
Well at least now I know two things: it is not one of the demo played by the Unicorn and David and probably it is not that old.
